FAQs

What is Timeshare Ownership?

Timeshare, also known as Vacation Ownership, is the deeded property purchase or lease purchase of a vacation villa for one or more weeks, typically within a “floating” time system, which allows scheduling each year’s vacation within a specified season. Most of our properties are deeded real estate, so you truly own your vacations for a lifetime, and can pass your ownership on to family or friends.

Why is Marriott involved in Timeshare Ownership?

In the words of JW Marriott Jr., “…We studied the timeshare business very closely for a long time. We saw it was a fantastic idea – in theory. It was full of wonderful promise. But timeshare in practice often was not up to our standards. We wanted to create something that people could customize so that they could enjoy their vacation the way they want it and when they want it.”

What makes a Timeshare vacation different from a regular vacation?

Marriott Vacation Club Villas more closely resemble condominiums with space, amenities and pricing a regular resort can't match. Villas come with up to three bedrooms, living and dining areas, full kitchens and up to two separate bathrooms. But Timesharing offers so much more. Vacation Club resorts are seen as close-knit communities where families can reconnect, with each other and with others, at a pace and in a space you just can’t find in traditional hotel surroundings. Accommodations are ample enough to suit everyone, with exclusive amenities such as washers and dryers, multiple television sets and DVD players. And many Marriott Vacation Club resorts provide coveted facilities such as golf courses, spas, multiple pools and activities centers.
